Gruntz 15mm: Black Company: Raid on Laconis IV
I write gaming campaigns for wargames in my free time. I have done campaigns for Stargrunt II, Dirtside II, Full Thrust, FUBAR, BOHICA, and Gruntz15mm
This is a short map/narrative based campaign where we follow the Black Company in their combat drop against the Green Machine on Laconis IV.
The Black Company has been hired by Amway Galactic's senior VP of Operations, Martha Sorenson, to conduct a punitive raid on the planet Laconis IV. Laconis IV is the only producer of the crystal Laconite in its natural form. Laconite is used for numerous Holographic systems used throughout Terran space and beyond.
The reason for the raid is simple, vengeance. Martha's son, David, was a junior engineer overseeing the installation of a new robotic crystal processing facility in Bayview City when a labor strike turned violent and he was killed in the chaos. The Labor Union strike and other affiliated militant groups were funded by Galactic Multi-Corp in an attemtp to invalidate the mining contract on Laconis IV which stipulated miner compensation and happiness were to remain at a certain level.
After a six month investigation Martha found that agents of GMC were funding radical groups and fomenting discontent among miners. Once the strikes turned violent Amway Galactic had their very lucrative mining contract cancelled and given to their rival GMC.
GMC hired mercenary units to keep unrest contained and initiated a complete lockdown of the planet while they exfiltrated their agents. The mercs are from different units but the primary unit is the Green Machine, a mecha battalion with an unsavory reputaion for savagery and ruthlessness. Martha wants the Black Company to drop onto the planet and destroy the valuable mineheads and spaceport control facilities.
The PDF also has the basic rules for a very simple campaign system where you must acquire Logistics Points to repair / re-arm your vehicles and equipment and hire new soldiers. You must also spend LP to be able to play new scenarios. So you must balance the health of your force with your ability to wage a long campaign and use valuable resources. If you run out of LP you can no longer resist your opponent as you have no ammunition, fuel or bodies to throw at them.
Scenario 1 - Misdrop
LP Cost: 10
This mission can be played up to three times to represent the entire company dropping onto the planet.
Overview: While attempting a combat drop over the spaceport our dropship, "Croaker", took fire from ground based gun turrets and aerospace fighters. During the dropships frantic maneuvering during its orbital re-entry we had to make an emergency combat drop. Our units are scattered all over the valley. We need to link up with them and move towards objective Alpha.
Terrain set-up: Open ground with rocky outcroppings and crystal formations. 25% Terrain coverage of the board.
Forces set-up:
The Attackers forces are set up by the defender with at least one mecha in each table quarter.
Defenders Forces begin within 6" of one long table edge.
Support Available: none
Battlefield Objectives:
+5 LP for each enemy unit DAMAGED
+20 LP for each enemy unit DESTROYED
+1 IP for each mecha that moves off of the enemy table edge
+20 LP for getting the entire mecha platoon off of the enemy table edge
Forces:
Attacker Player:
Gruntz Points: 300
4 x Mecha Platoon
Defender Player:
Gruntz Points: 300
4 x Scout Helicopters
4 x Baal Attack Helicopters
Some of the Scenarios like Misdrop and Mining Stations can be played multiple times as you build up Logistics Points and Intelligence Points to fuel your attempts to complete the other two missions which are unique.
