WIP: Gruntz 15mm: Synod Combat Clone Army

A lazy Sunday afternoon was spent watching my 6 month old granddaughter, catching up on Tevo and painting this clone army. I even put the Clone Wars again to make sure I put enough color on the clone armor.

The Whole force so far.

I did four squads of regular troops with yellow markings and each squad has a medic (green markings) and a vehicle specialist combat bot armed with heavy missiles.

There are two independent squads of Missile armed combat bots.Red Team and Blue Team

Two light mecha support the force with some light missile pods and two full auto laser cannons.

Top View. The grayed out white and primary colors comes out really well together

Commander in red markings...still working on a nick name.

Another grunt squad.

Second independent Combat Bot squad.

Squad of Commandos (Arc Troopers) led by Captain Tex and supported by a clone medic.

I have some large wheeled transports getting painted right now. and I am thinking about adding some assault class mecha that I have built but I have been waiting for the right army to paint them up for.

Gruntz 15mm: German Quar in Space army reinforcements

I found these little guys in one of my many RISK games collected over the years. I think they will make great Quar robo-helpers for my new Quar army. ?maybe?

The Game which is also a great source of 15mm robot minis...just sayin.

Also the game board is great for an invasion of Terran campaign based game. It even comes with the moon... and it is already divided into territories...who would have thought.

Size comparison for the three useable minis with themselves. The one on the left is going in my Synod Clone army as robotic weapons platforms. The one in the middle was obviously made with the Quar in mind. and the last one (which is the size of a 15mm dude or Power Armored dude in 15mm is going in my Consensus of Artificial Systems army list as basic robo-gruntz.

you even get some 6mm terrain and 6 x 28mm dudes for another DIY army project. the small robot is about the size of a 15mm dude (maybe a hair bigger).

This is close to but not all of the dudes you get for each side x 5. With one game you an five friends could all have 15mm robo armies. all this will cost you about $40.

WIP: Gruntz15mm: Ghost Army

I found the big guy in the back buried deep within the mysterious confines of my minis collection. It is some Heroclix dude, i guess a villain, I don't know. I thought he would look good as an AI avatar for my Ghost Fleet army. I found 8 of them in my collection but chopped two up as objective markers and attached the other six to the infantry squads.

After a quick black under coat and dry brush with some silver an picked out his beady red eyes they are ready to lead some mindless automatons into battle.

Group shot of the 15 mm army as it stands now.

Fear is the mind killer...

Gruntz 15mm: WWII Pigs...in Space

SO I found these little guys on Zombiesmith's website and they are in 15mm and they are in German uniforms... I think I found some more minis to go with my unused German FoW Tanks for use as low tech mercenaries in my 15mm Sci FI games...

German PIGS IN SPACE...... lol

WIP: Gruntz 15mm: Synod Combat Clone army...it begins...

Here is just a teaser. I am using figures from the Star Wars: the Clone Wars RISK game. and some figures from Battlefield RISK (the Snipers) and Fortress America (The kneeling Snipers). I also found three Alligator attack helicopters and I plan on using the Tonka APCs I have had kicking around because they are more closely scaled to the clones (Who are big for 15mm).

5 x Squads of 8 with Plasma Rifles
5 x Medics
Commander
Sub Commander
5 x Sniper Teams w Heavy sniper rifle and regular Sniper Rifle
6 x APCs
3 x Scout Vehicles
1 x Command Truck
4 x Cargo Trucks for Objectives

WIP: Gruntz 15mm: Aven Army

Last week during my bout with bronchitis I couldn't sleep because of all the meds and so I painted the entire Aven army I was working on. Now it is not quite finished but it does have a table top ready paint job on it. I still want to fiddle some with little tiny details, and add some decals but I haven't decided which ones and thought that they deserved an update so far. I also want to add some desert grass flock to the bases to make them more interesting.

Group Shot: about 562 points worth.

The Aven Multi-Mode Fighters are the core of the army and supported by...

Sniper teams and combat bots under the command of a...

Talon Leader and his tactical command combat bot...Rusty

More MMF in Striker mode with the Soaring mode and Stalker modes in the background.

The color scheme is pretty bland but I hate really bright color or camo schemes on combat vehicles as I see driving a Yellow Tank around the battlefield just ridiculous unless the majority of the fauna on your planet is yellow...The Aven come from an arid world with large expanses of badlands and sparse vegetation.

DIY: Terrain Project: Ice World terrain

Ok so the glue has dried...

now prime your pieces and then hit them with some spray paint blue. Once the blue has dried the hit the bottom portion of each piece with some white spray paint. After that you hold the can about 2 feet above each piece and hit the pieces from the top.

blue base color.

as you can see the pieces fill up a 4'x4' board and they have the height to provide cover for both infantry and medium sized mecha or vehicles.

Roll that beautiful gaming porn footage...

Gruntz 15mm: Fel'Akin army finished and display board built

Yes I got bored and built a display board for my Hell Kitties... I don't know why, maybe bored with the olive drab and tan color schemes of late, but I went with an arctic theme for this army.

display board made from a small cork board I had laying around doing nothing and some spare sticky tile and wine corks.

I think it came out rather better than I expected... I have never had luck with white paint schemes...

Nuln Oil really brought out the detail in these powered armor suits without making them too dark...

cork as weird cylindrical alien ice crystals... came out ok

Red is for command authority...

all in all I am very happy with this army's look... now to see about their battlefield performance...
